Lesson 5
How to Scan
Scan spacing, the trigger workflow, and how to chain rooms together.
You are creating a digital map by leaving a trail of breadcrumbs (scans). The software needs to see how the scans connect to each other.
1 Start at the Entrance
Place the tripod just inside the front door.
2 HIDE!
Tap "Capture" on your phone app, then immediately step behind a wall or into another room.
3 Move 5 to 8 Feet
Once the scan is done, move the tripod 5 to 8 feet further into the house. Think of it like walking — place the camera where a person would naturally step.
4 Keep a Line of Sight
This is critical. The camera must have a clear, unobstructed "line of sight" to the exact spot where it took the previous scan. If you go around a sharp corner and the camera can't "see" the last spot, the app will give you an "Alignment Error."
5 Navigate Around Furniture
Do not place the tripod directly behind a tall couch or table. If you do, the virtual tour will force the viewer to "ghost" right through the furniture to get to the next spot, which looks terrible.
